I just received my Ledgendary ’71 El Camino and I’m unbelieveablely impressed. I was expecting the first edition release with different wheels. What arrived was some totally cool. It’s a heavy metalflake black paint with a chrome interior and clear windows. It has the HWTF logo on the sides and a lot of detailing such as the lights, window trim, etc… The best part is the ghostly gray and matte black streaks on the hood and sides representing the travelling through time, votices, and wormholes. This piece was squeezed into production a short time frame and is a very limited run. Very nicely done Mattel.

A new logo design for 2014. This rendering lost the 3-D look and the real flame design. It’s now a simple logo design that looks to be a throwback from the 80’s. For 2014 there will be 250 models again with this DeLorean being #33.

There are new multi-pack only cars appearing in 3 packs, 9 packs and 20-packs. Some new issues and recolors of current releases that will be in “P” cases. Also out are two new nickelodeon Spongbob Squarepants charactor cars.

So you’re coming to the Convention this September and you want to enter the Custom Car Contest. Well you may want to know what it takes. There are some of the best amateurs to pro customizers in the world that will attend this event. With well over 100 entries the judges, which include past custom winners, the Nationals staff, and Mattel designers had their work cut out for them to choose a winner and picked these as the best of the bunch. From simple paint jobs to all out sculpting of  many Hot Wheels parts into one model. Just received a package from A&J Toys caulk full for new series cars. There is no disappointing casting in these three selections. Although some of the models in the Retro line are not exact to the original series cars but they do represent the era and the style of the cars of that time. One of my favorites is the ’71 Plymouth Satellite station wagon. I believe there were about 5 different station wagons were used in the series and this one doesn’t match any of them.  It is done up in true Hot Wheels style with a shaker hood and large rear tires. Greg must of gotten his hands on it when Mike and Carol were away for the weekend. As for the Boulevards, I’m sad to see this series end. The last of this series did give us 3 great new castings for future enjoyment. I hope they use them ...

I received the second of the 2 rewards cars offered for 2012, The Volkswagen Drag Truck. The wait was worth it! Beautifully done in Spectraflame blue with 5 spoke redline Real Riders. Trimmed out in race team fashion with the red and white Hot Wheels logo and the number 11(for series 11) on the sides. It has a solid white wing and engine cover, metellic blue trim and details, right down to the California license plate (RWRDS 11). Enjoy the pictures. I’m free from my packaging. Nice Details Showing off its muscle. The Hudson Hornet patiently waiting for its arrival.  

The Corvette series just arrived at my local Walmart and for 97 cents this is a nice 60th Anniversary tribute to the classic Chevrolet model. Eight models in all with only a few repeats of previous colors. With brilliant card art and great choice on castings Mattel scored with this series.

Wave number 4 of the Zamac cars are showing up in “L” case Walmart dump bins and side kicks. Look for: Zamac 11 – #245 ’68 Shelby GT500 Zamac 12 – #160 Volkswagen Scirocco GT 24 Zamac 10 – #238 ’70 Monte Carlo
