This year there are 247 releases with 50 new models. Even thought there is still a Treasure Hunts series. The “super” hunt  have gone rouge and hidden with the series making these a true hunt. Back are Mystery Models. 24 different cars in a foil package. Introduced in late 2011 for 2012 are Team Hot Wheels Racing models with a new high-performance nickel-plated axles and colored wheels made of Delrin a very smooth plastic original used as the wheel bearings of the originals redlines. Light Speeders were introduced plastic body models that you can draw on with a special light stick. Nostalgic Brands continued with more icon brands of the past and Boulevard series replaced the Garage series with mixed emotions. Mattel looked at there own artwork and started producing 1:64^th mainline motorcycle casting with removable riders this was a hit with customizers. Kroger stores picked up the exclusive lines such as the Mardi Gras cars and Halloween and also offered an exclusive color ’12 Camaro ZL1 and 12 different foil-bag cars.
