Seventeen new models were introduced with the total number of vehicles remaining at ninety-six. Two were never sold in the USA: Pontiac J-2000 in green and the Datsun 200SX in maroon. Also, the Frito Lay van and Flat Out 442 in green were only found in the USA in a 6-pack. These four models, although scheduled for the domestic market, were only released in blisterpacks in Canada. This was also the year Ultra Hot Wheels cars were introduced and referred to as the fastest breed of Hot Wheels cars.
