Just over 450 new basic cars were issued (not counting variations). Included were 40 2001 First Editions, 12 Treasure Hunt cars, and 12 sets of four-segment cars as part of the 240 number packs for this year. 5-packs and set cars were continued as well as limited editions, although not as many limiteds as in recent years. K•B, Wal-Mart, Target and Kmart all had their exclusive series and cars.
