Mattel introduced the Treasure Hunt Cars and the 1995 Model Series. Twelve Treasure Hunt Cars were issued monthly and were limited to 10,000 each. They caused quite a commotion with speculators buying all they could find and reselling them for $25 to $100 each. The 1995 Model Series consisted of 12 new castings and was also issued monthly. The Segment Series were also introduced: 12 different series of four cars each in the same theme. Three different series were scheduled every three months for a total of 48 cars. In 1995, five new wheels were introduced: three-spoke (sp3), five-spoke (sp5), seven-spoke (sp7), hot hubs (hh), and the progressive oval wheels (pow). The ovals were only used for one vehicle.
