Kalifornia Kustoms
In 2006 Mattel created the Kalifornia Kustoms line that was going to feature eighteen models in the $8 price range. The line was discontinued after only 12 of the models had been released. They was dropped in less then a year, mostly due to poor sales and the increased cost of production. Each car came in an acrylic tube display that gave the appearance of the car floating in the middle of the tube, like a ship in a bottle. These highly detailed, multi-piece Hot Wheels castings were designed for the adult collector and featured the 100% castings with multi-parts and classic style paint schemes. Recently these models have seen resurgent interest with new collectors and the prices are starting to rise. All 12 of these models were made in China. Each model had its own style collectible Real Riders. All prices are mint in package. loose mint is around half the package value.
